- 1 cup rolled oats1 cup rolled oats1 cup certified gluten-free rolled oats1 cup certified gluten-free rolled oats — use certified GF oats to avoid cross-contamination
- 2 tbsp chia seeds2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 1/2 cups milk1 1/2 cups milk1 1/2 cups oat milk1 1/2 cups oat milk — any unsweetened plant milk works; almond or soy are fine too
- 2 tbsp maple syrup2 tbsp maple syrup
- a teaspoon of vanilla extract1 tsp vanilla extract
- a pinch of saltsalt, to taste
- a cup of mixed berries1 cup mixed berries
Steps
- Grab two jars or bowls and divide the oats and chia seeds evenly between them.
- Pour the milk over the top, then add the maple syrup, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Stir each one well so no dry oats stay stuck at the bottom.
- Press the oats down so the liquid covers them. Cap with a lid or cover with plastic wrap.
- Chill in the fridge for at least 6 hours, ideally overnight, so the oats soften and the chia thickens everything up.
- In the morning, give it a stir. If it feels too thick, loosen it with a splash more milk.
- Top with the berries and eat cold, straight from the jar.
