  • 1 cup rolled oats1 cup rolled oats1 cup certified gluten-free rolled oats1 cup certified gluten-free rolled oatsuse certified GF oats to avoid cross-contamination
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 1/2 cups milk1 1/2 cups milk1 1/2 cups oat milk1 1/2 cups oat milkany unsweetened plant milk works; almond or soy are fine too
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup2 tbsp maple syrup
  • a teaspoon of vanilla extract1 tsp vanilla extract
  • a pinch of saltsalt, to taste
  • a cup of mixed berries1 cup mixed berries

Steps

  1. Grab two jars or bowls and divide the oats and chia seeds evenly between them.
  2. Pour the milk over the top, then add the maple syrup, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Stir each one well so no dry oats stay stuck at the bottom.
  3. Press the oats down so the liquid covers them. Cap with a lid or cover with plastic wrap.
  4. Chill in the fridge for at least 6 hours, ideally overnight, so the oats soften and the chia thickens everything up.
  5. In the morning, give it a stir. If it feels too thick, loosen it with a splash more milk.
  6. Top with the berries and eat cold, straight from the jar.
